#73 royal cross

I had been, for a while, wanting to return to working with the playing cards.  I had the idea to create a background by alternating the fronts and backs of the cards and then decided to insert other imagery from an old English history book.  At this time, I was also experimenting with marbleizing paper and incorporated some here.  The purple represents royalty.  It was fun experimenting with obscuring the imagery with various materials. The cross seems to emerge from the complicated pattern of the background.
