#65 true Cross

Over time, I remained very interested in the idea of historical pieces.  I enjoyed working on them and experimenting with how to tell a story through collage.  The wood cross represents the true cross from the crucifixion, which was found by St. Helena, mother of the Emperor Constantine in 326.  The maps represent places associated with the story of the cross.  The material is eclectic yet pulls together in an interesting way.  The gold and silver along with the fancy patterned paper provide a sense of majesty and awe.

Balsa wood, gold paper, silver Mylar, map, disposable palette, patterned paper, crayon, watercolor, on poster board.
