#43 Eleanor cross
The Eleanor Cross is a reference to English history. Between the years 1291 and 1294, King Edward I had twelve wooden crosses erected in memory of decease wife, Eleanor of Castile. The crosses marked the nightly resting places along her body’s route from Lincoln to London. Here, the twelve redesigned queen playing cards represent the crosses. Other materials and motifs are used in a variety of ways to tell the story.
